Cheap drinks

From high-class to small budget, you can find every kind of bar in Istanbul. But as the expensive spots are really posh you don’t miss a thing if you avoid them.

Cico
Whether you search for a nice place for a coffee or the first beer for a long night out, Cico is a good choice. Cheap beer (2 YTL = 1 Euro) and hot chocolate (1 YTL = 50 cent) are combined with elegant interior and mixed guests.

Comment from Tim:

First of all thank you for collecting this valuable information compact on one website. I am sure it will help us a lot especially because there are clubs like the Pixies, that play dubstep and drum’n'bass. Thanks for the tip!
I just wanted to let you know that there’s prices on your website, that are not up to date which means they are not exeptionally cheap as expected.
Just one thing is that we noticed is the price for a beer in the bar “Cico” is not 2 YTL anymore but 3.50 YTL (which, I mean, is still cheap).
I don’t want to sound like I know it better, I just wanted to prevent other people from being sad when they notice that getting drunk will cost them more than expected :D
Anyways, keep it up, its a sweet and informative site!
I will check out the clubs, especially the Pixies I am exited about.
Cheers,

Matrock Cafe
The Turks rediscovered their affection for the water pipe, so you will find many many cafes offering it. In Turkish they are called “Nargile” and they come with flavoured tobacco like strawberry, cherry, mint, lemon and even chocolate or coffee. The Matrock Cafe is a meeting point for young folk, smoking the nargile (10 YTL = 5 Euro) and sipping their Nescafe (3 YTL = 1, 50 Euro). Beer starts at 6 YTL (3 Euro).

Melek Bar
In the Imam Adnan Street, you will find several pubs and bars, one better or worse than the other, depending on the music you would like to listen to. The Melek Bar – Angel Bar – provides you with cheap beer (starting from 5 YTL), two floors and a daily changing (live-) music-program.

Mr. Bliss Café and Bar
This is one of the many outdoor-cafes of Istanbul. They’re awesome because you sit amongst all those Turkish people who become totally crazy and start dancing and singing when they hear their favourite song. The live music is not one of a kind as they primarily play popular Turkish songs, but hey: this is what the Turks come for! Beer starts at 4, 50 YTL (2, 50 Euro).

Peyote
Home to the Indie scene of Istanbul, Peyote can claim that it discovered a handful of bands which are now quite popular in Turkey. Check out their website for upcoming events and enjoy live-music at its best. Nice terrace! Beer starts at 8 YTL (4 Euro).
